My kids are all about the snacks.  They are offered up three squares a day, but snacks are an important part of their diet.  So, I try as best I can to make the snacks something other than junk.  Here is one that is a favorite at our house (though the boys are fickle, so the top spot is always in rotation!).  I can’t take full credit for this one.  A good friend in grade school used to get these in her lunch all the time.  What a mom.

Turkey Cream Cheese Rollups

Ingredients:

Sliced deli turkey

cream cheese (I prefer the whipped, it’s easier to spread)

 To assemble:

Lay out a single slice of turkey.  Don’t worry if it’s torn or only a scrap of turkey, kids don’t care too much about presentation and prettiness

Slather on a layer of yummy, fluffy cream cheese

Roll up!

You can get as fancy as you want with these.  My kids prefer them simple and straight up.  They are packed with protein, portable, and fun to eat.

Serve with a side of sliced fruit and a glass of milk.  Ta-da You might not have to open the kitchen until dinner.

Any yummy add ons to suggest?
